Rise Against ist eine politische Punk-Rock-Band aus Chicago mit traditioneller Hardcore-Influence. Gegründet wurde die Gruppe 1999 von Joe Principe, ehemals von 88 Fingers Louie, anfangs bestehend aus Sänger Tim Mcllrath und Gitarrist Dan Precision, auch von 88 Fingers Louie. Doch Precision verließ schließlich die Band, um Chris Chasse zu ersetzen, der Erfahrungen von Reach The Sky mitbrachte. Mit dieser Besetzung veröffentlichte Rise Against zwei Alben bei Fat Wreck Chords, bevor sie 2003 zu Geffen Records wechselten und ihr Debütalbum auf einem Major-Label 2004 veröffentlichten. Ihr gesamtes Karriere wird die Gruppe für ihren melodischen Hardcore-Sound bekannt, der Elemente von Punk-Rock, Hardcore-Punk und Rock mischt, um einzigartig und energiegeladen zu sein.
