Pixies is an alternative rock band formed in early 1986 in Boston, Massachusetts, US. The original lineup consisted of Black Francis (real name Charles Michael Kittridge Iv) on vocals and guitar, Kim Deal on bass and vocals, Joey Santiago on guitar, and David Lovering on drums. After forming in the mid-80s, Pixies went on to achieve significant success throughout their career. With a unique blend of alternative rock, indie rock, noise pop, punk rock, and rock, the band has consistently pushed the boundaries of their genre. Over the years, Pixies have released music through their own label, Pixies Recording Inc. In 2012, Kim Deal left the band and was replaced by Paz Lenchantin for their 2013 tour. Later in 2014, Tara MacLean joined the lineup, remaining with the band until 2024 when she was succeeded by new drummer, Jimmy Lovelace. Despite changes to their lineup over the years, Pixies has maintained a strong presence in the music world and continues to produce innovative and captivating music.
