Powerwolf is a German power metal band founded in Saarbrücken in 2004 by members of Red Aim. The group's unique sound blends power metal with German metal, incorporating religious themes and images, corpse paint, gothic-tinged compositions, and songs about werewolf and vampire legends. With their debut album Return in Bloodred released in 2005, followed by Lupus Dei in 2007, the band gained momentum, entering the official German charts for the first time with Bible of the Beast in 2009. After several lineup changes, including the departure of drummer Stefan Gemballa and his replacement by Tom Diener and later Roel van Helden, Powerwolf released Blood of the Saints in 2011. The band signed with Napalm Records in 2012 and went on to release Preachers of the Night in 2013, which debuted at No. 1 in Germany. Since then, they have released several successful albums, including Blessed & Possessed, certified gold in the Czech Republic, The Sacrament of Sin, Call of the Wild, Interludium, and Wake Up the Wicked.
