Rise Against es una banda de punk rock político con influencia hardcore tradicional y basada en Chicago. Formada en 1999 por Joe Principe, anteriormente de 88 Fingers Louie, el grupo originalmente contó con el vocalista Tim Mcllrath y el guitarrista Dan Precision, también de 88 Fingers Louie. Sin embargo, Precision eventualmente abandonó la banda, reemplazado por Chris Chasse, quien aportó experiencia desde Reach The Sky.
