Franz Ferdinand is een Schotse rockband gevormd in Glasgow in 2002. De oorspronkelijke bezetting bestond uit Alex Kapranos (lead vocals, gitaar, toetsen), Nick McCarthy (gitaar, toetsen, zang), Bob Hardy (bas) en Paul Thomson (drums, perkussie, achtergrondzang). Na McCarthys vertrek in 2017 sloot Julian Corrie (toetsen, gitaar, achtergrondzang) en Dino Bardot (gitaar, achtergrondzang) zich bij de band aan. Audrey Tait (drums, perkussie) nam Thomson in 2021 op. Bekend om hun mengeling van indie rock, post-punk revival, art rock, danspunk en alternatieve dansstijlen, heeft Franz Ferdinand meerdere UK Top 20-hits sinds de vroege 2000's weten te verkrijgen. Hun debuutsingle "Take Me Out" werd een commerciële doorbraak, piekte op nummer drie in de UK Singles Chart en kreeg een Grammy-nominatie voor Beste Rockprestatie door een duo of groep met vocalen. Het bands zelfgetitelde debuutalbum won de Mercury Prize 2004 en kreeg een Grammy-nominatie voor Beste Alternatieve Album.
