Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 2002. The original lineup consisted of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Nick McCarthy (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Bob Hardy (bass), and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion, backing vocals). After McCarthy's departure in 2017, Julian Corrie (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals) and Dino Bardot (guitar, backing vocals) joined the band. Audrey Tait (drums, percussion) replaced Thomson in 2021. Known for their blend of indie rock, post-punk revival, art rock, dance-punk, and alternative dance styles, Franz Ferdinand has garnered multiple UK top 20 hits since the early 2000s. Their debut single "Take Me Out" became a commercial breakthrough, peaking at number three on the UK Singles Chart and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The band's self-titled debut album won the 2004 Mercury Prize and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album.
