DISCOVERY FAQ

Everything you need to know about finding concert buddies near you.

How does the Concertbuddy discovery feature work?

Discovery shows you real music fans from your area who share your taste in music. Once your profile includes your location and genre preferences, you'll see a grid of nearby users sorted by musical compatibility. The more genres you have in common with someone, the stronger the match. Click any profile to learn more about them and send a message.

Who will I find on the discovery page?

You'll find verified Concertbuddy users near your location who have set up a music profile and are open to connecting. They've listed their favourite genres, where they're based, and are actively looking for concert companions — just like you.

Do I need an account to use discovery?

Yes, a free Concertbuddy account is required. This ensures every profile belongs to a real person who is genuinely looking for concert buddies. Signing up is completely free and takes under a minute.

How is my location used in discovery?

Your city or region is used to show you people nearby. Only your city name is ever visible to other users — your exact address is never shared. You can update your location at any time from your profile settings.

What does 'shared genres' mean on a user card?

Shared genres are the music genres that both you and another user have listed in your profiles. The more genres you share with someone, the stronger your musical connection — and the more likely you are to enjoy the same live shows and festivals together.

How do I connect with someone I find on discovery?

Click any user card to open their full profile. From there you can send a direct message. Keep it natural — mention a shared genre, a band you both like, or an upcoming concert you're planning to attend. People respond best to specific, music-related openers.

Why am I not showing up in other people's discovery results?

To appear in discovery you need a location, at least one genre listed, and your discovery visibility must be enabled. Open your profile settings and make sure all three are in place. If you've recently joined, it can take a short while for your profile to appear.

Can I find concert buddies for specific genres like metal, indie or EDM?

Absolutely. Your genre preferences directly determine who you see and who sees you. Whether you love metal, indie rock, jazz, EDM, classical or anything in between, Concertbuddy matches you with fans who share the same taste. Adding more genres to your profile always improves your match quality.

Is discovery available in my city?

Discovery works in any city where Concertbuddy has registered users. The larger your city's music scene, the more matches you'll find. If results are sparse right now, share Concertbuddy with fellow music fans — the community grows every day and your next concert buddy may be joining soon.

How is Concertbuddy discovery different from social media?

Unlike general social networks, Concertbuddy is built exclusively for live music fans. Every person on the discovery page is there for one reason: to find someone to go to concerts with. There are no algorithm-driven feeds, no ads, and no distraction — just music lovers looking for company at live shows.
