Howard Shore is a renowned Canadian composer, conductor, and orchestrator known for his work in classical, soundtrack, and cinematic classical music. With a career spanning over 75 years, he has composed scores for more than 80 films, including the iconic soundtracks for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Shore's collaborative efforts with directors David Cronenberg and Martin Scorsese have yielded numerous critically acclaimed films, earning him three Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, four Grammy Awards, three Genie Awards, and nine Canadian Screen Awards. In addition to his film work, Shore has composed concert pieces, including the opera The Fly, and has served as the original musical director for Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1980.
