Mercury Rev

Mercury Rev

Mercury Rev is an American alternative rock band from Buffalo, New York, formed in 1989. As a collective, the group initially provided soundtracks for student films before debuting in the UK as exponents of psychedelic and experimental indie rock. Over time, they revealed a more melodic, bittersweet sound, with frontman David Baker leaving after the second record, Boces. The band's mainstream media attention came in 1998 following further UK touring and the release of their album Deserters Songs, which earned the "Best Album Of The Year" award from Nme. With a rich history of musical experimentation, Mercury Rev's current lineup features Jonathan Donahue on vocals and guitar, alongside Grasshopper (Sean Mackowiak) on guitar and clarinet.
