Rise Against is a Chicago-based political punk rock band with a traditional hardcore influence. Formed in 1999 by Joe Principe, formerly of 88 Fingers Louie, the group initially featured vocalist Tim Mcllrath and guitarist Dan Precision, also from 88 Fingers Louie. However, Precision eventually left the band, replaced by Chris Chasse, who brought experience from Reach The Sky to the table. With this lineup in place, Rise Against released two albums on Fat Wreck Chords before signing with Geffen Records in 2003 and making their major label debut in 2004. Throughout their career, the group has been known for their melodic hardcore sound, which blends elements of punk rock, hardcore punk, and rock to create a unique and energetic style.
