Sepultura is a Brazilian metal band formed in 1984 in Belo Horizonte by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera. The group's first stable recording line-up was established in 1985, featuring Max on guitar/vocals, Igor on drums, Jairo T. on lead guitar, and Paulo Jr. on bass. This lineup evolved over the years, with Andreas Kisser replacing Jairo T. in 1986, and Max Cavalera leaving the band in 1996 due to creative differences. Derrick Green took over vocals in 1998. In 2006, Igor Cavalera departed the band, followed by his replacement on drums by Eloy Casagrande in 2011, and later Jean Dolabella. The current lineup features Paulo Jr. on bass, Andreas Kisser on guitar, Derrick Green on vocals, and Greyson Nekrutman on drums. Sepultura has been a driving force in the metal genre, releasing music through Roadrunner Records, Spv GmbH, and Nuclear Blast, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to inspire fans worldwide.
