The Head and the Heart is an American indie folk band formed in the summer of 2009 by Josiah Johnson (vocals, guitar, percussion) and Jonathan Russell (vocals, guitar, percussion). With a unique sound that blends harmonious vocals with instrumentation from Charity Rose Thielen (violin, guitar, vocals), Chris Zasche (bass), Kenny Hensley (piano), Tyler Williams (drums), and Matt Gervais (guitar, vocals), the band has built a reputation for their captivating live performances. Since their inception, The Head and the Heart have released six studio albums, with their latest album, Aperture, dropping on May 9, 2025, under Verve Records.
