Formed in Braintree, England in 1990 by producer, keyboardist, and songwriter Liam Howlett, The Prodigy is a pioneering electronic dance music band that has been a driving force in the genre for over three decades. With their unique blend of big beat, electronic, breakbeat, and punk influences, they've become known as the "Godfathers of Rave" and the premier dance act for the alternative masses. The group's early success came with debut singles "Charly" and "Everybody in the Place," which reached the UK top five in 1991. Following their critically acclaimed debut album Experience (1992), they refined their sound on Music for the Jilted Generation (1994) and then achieved commercial and critical peak with The Fat of the Land (1997), which spawned hit singles "Firestarter" and "Breathe." With a string of successful albums and singles, including the controversially titled "Smack My Bitch Up," The Prodigy has solidified their position as one of the most influential and successful electronic acts of all time.
