The Strokes
The Strokes are an American rock band from New York City, formed in 1998. The group consists of singer Julian Casablancas, guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr., bassist Nikolai Fraiture, and drummer Fabrizio Moretti. With a genre-bending sound that blends indie rock, garage rock revival, post-punk revival, new wave, and rock, the band has released music through Casablancas' Cult Records following the conclusion of five-album deals with Rca and Rough Trade. Their debut album, Is This It (2001), received widespread critical acclaim, helping to shape the garage rock revival movement of the early 21st century. The album's impact was recognized by prominent publications, including Rolling Stone, Nme, and others, solidifying the band's reputation as a pioneering force in contemporary music.
